yesterday, me and one of my supplier mr. s were sharing our experience on kitchen cabinet installation and installer...
obviously the problems we faced were quite similar, which involved a lot of technical things... but most of these problems can be avoided if we coordinate well with the installers...
there are basically 2 types of kitchen installer... the first type of installer runs his own business and the other type is employed under kitchen installation company...
there are pros and fresh experience one and i normally use the pros one...
installers, like you and i, are capable of making misjudgements and mistakes...
it doesn't mean they are not qualified or less professional, everybody makes mistakes...
that's why there must be someone like site supervisor to coordinate at site, problems can be solved immediately once there are mistakes...
i found that most of the installers don't like to read drawings... there's always some technical drawings and details informations provided by the designers or manufacturer but most of the installers don't have the habit to go through or understand the drawings first before they start work...
is not that they can't understand the drawings and that's how most of the mistakes came from...
negative opinions or assumptions by a 3rd party about the installation work can be extremely damaging to the projects, causing an unnecessary loss...
sometimes another tradeperson or contractor will do things in a different way and point out some unwanted ideas...
installers and designers sometimes disagree things in a heated way...
there might be some arguments but that means both parties care about the project...
treat the installer with respect and you will get the job done up quickly...
most of the installers don't like to be watched while they are working...
they prefer an environment where they can take pride in their works...
but some times things has to be cleared like who is actually in charge at that site...
